I hope they continue doing ranked/tournaments for Zero Builds and this side of the game continues to grow. First appearance : Splatoon (2015 - Wii U) Inkling is a character who benefits from a big combo potential thanks to his really good grounded and aerial mobility which make him enjoyable to play and hard to hit. Yoshi can out hitbox inkling and escape some combos but inklings dash dance is hard for Yoshi to get combos on and I think Inkling still has a little better neutral. Zero Builds brought me back to the game, I have really solid outdated builds and could easily learn the current meta options but honestly building to me just isn't much fun & doesn't feel as exciting. I feel like maybe Yoshi does win the matchup but it doesn’t feel like a +2 for Yoshi.
The mode is still new and I would like to see them find a way to make the endgames more stacked but at it's core it is exactly what it needs to be, Fortnite without Builds. Build players r really used to boxing upon taking fire instead of sprint/sliding out.
Zero Builds is where you see those players who take 50/50s and make them 75/25s by using their movement/cover/positioning to win fights, rather then boxing and using full fortnite building fundamentals to do a safer/effective method. I do feel though even amongst some of the top players in Builds they stick to their Build control playstyle since its safe & effective but realistically alot of these players have poor movement/positioning due to kind of crutching on the safety net of being able to build & control the situation from their position. It's extremely unbalanced in terms of options available (which I see some saying ZB is unbalanced due to lack of options which is where we dive on dynamics here).įull Fortnite is very skillful, takes lots of building specific knowledge/fundamentals/mecahnics to really make an impact.
Then in fortnite where you have it spawning frame1, full protection with mobility options, the ability to manipulate the cover unreactably in some scenarios (editting).
The ability to make up poor positioning with free protection is really strong. In Smash for example, when Inkling performs a forward smash, it has between 16-17 frames where its hitbox is active. Every player being able to build is like every player being a Sheild Tank in other shooters, then you look at the meta in other shooters and might notice that shield tanks are undoubtedly one of the strongest roles in competitive shooters (Gibraltar in Apex, Rein/winston/orisa/ect in OW, and other examples). Frame data Games usually run between 30 and 60 frames a second, so there are 30-60 frames of animation that pass in a second. Perspective Post: "Full Fortnite" (with builds) in itself is actually unbalanced in the grand scheme of competitive shooters.
